“…We went by air conditioned bus to the river where we boarded a boat. We went up river to an island where we saw bees & had honey tea & then got to see how they make coconut candy, which was very interesting, we tasted some local fruit & watched a performance by some local singers. We then got to have a ride on small boats for a short distance on the small river ways. After this we boarded our boat & went across to another island where we had lunch & got to relax in hammocks before we returned to the boat & then onto our bus for a return drive to Ho Chi Minh. Good day out…”

Morning Itinerary

08:00AM: Our bus will pick you up at your hotel to take a 2-hour ride to Tien Giang province (roughly 75 km west of Sai Gon ) followed by a smooth one and half hour motorboat ride passing rice fields and stopping over National Highway 1 leads visitors to the beautiful rural district of Trung Luong.

9:30AM: The bus stops at Cao Dai temple in the town of Ben Luc for taking picture.

9:45AM: Upon arrival to My Tho City, cross the Tien River by motorboat on the upper part of the Mekong River to see the fish market and visit the floating fish farm. Enjoy the view of Dragon, Phoenix, Unicorn, and Turtle islands as well. Cruise along small creeks through Mekong River estuaries to Rach Xep natural canal, which is fully covered with water coconuts. Visit orchards and be farms to taste natural honey and honey wine. Enjoy!
Visit old houses and see local pepole made hand working coconut tree.

10:30AM: Visit Nam Bo houses (traditional Southern Vietnamese houses) by horse carriage and taste some special products from the garden. Watch children happily make their way back home from school and high school girls in beautiful in their Ao Dai – traditional Vietnamese clothing

10 :50AM: Take a walk around the fruit garden and taste the seasonal fruits as you enjoy a traditional South Vietnamese musical performance.

11:15AM: After visiting traditional houses enjoy a memorizing rowing boat trip through small canals.

11:45AM: Take a motorboat cruise along more natural creeks and peaceful villages.

Afternoon Itinerary

12:10PM: Satisfy your sweet tooth by stopping by a coconut candy mill to indulge in this tasty snack while seeing how it is made.

12:20PM: Enjoy a Vietnamese lunch in a restaurant located in a local home.

13:20PM: Ride your bike (about 1 hour) around the village shaded by coconut trees as you pass immense green rice fields and admire the beautiful scenery
Visit a rice vendor and see how rice paper is made.
Learn about the “same same, but different” trees that grow throughout the Mekong Delta. Then, try guessing the names of the trees by using your nose!

14:30PM: Boat back to My Tho City.

15:00PM: Bus back to Ho Chi Minh City and visit Vinh Trang Pagoda.

Great trip personally planned by Viet Prestige
– Booking a Mekong day trip with VPT made me amazed at how good they are.
– Hoa Pham – Our supporter was very patient (considering all the changes I made).
– Every detail was thought of and organised perfectly, though this was a short trip.
– Our ferry woman rowd the boat by legs – unbelievable!.

Great day amazing value
– I saw a temple and four islands within one trip as well as getting a river boat tour on a paddle boat
– Sights were all great, food and fruits were all great
– Definitely a must do tour during your stay in Ho Chi Minh
– If weather goes well, you can also take a ride by bike

– Tour guide was excellent fantastic knowledge and English
– Boat tours on the delta were amazing with air conditioned van in 1,5 hours transfer
– Nice retreat away from hustle and bustle of city

Day Spent on the Mekong Delta
– We had a really nice tour of the Mekong
– It was typical of most with the multiple destinations and the making of coconut candies, visits to the villages and shops
– Our guide was outstanding and made the whole place including it’s rich history come alive for us
– It was a bit longer drive than I thought it would be so plan accordingly especially with plenty of water … worth the visit though!!
